It may not prove to be the most effective strategy, but some the world's leading technology companies have filed a complaint to the EU Commission that Google's (NASDAQ: GOOG ) Android operating system is giving the company a monopoly on mobile, search advertising, and consumer data.
Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT ) , Nokia (NYSE: NOK ) , Oracle, andTripAdvisorare teaming up against Google, saying that the company is using Android as a "Trojan horse" to monopolize the mobile marketplace. When it comes to Microsoft and Nokia, it's pretty clear why the two aren't exactly happy with Google's OS dominance.
Why Nokia's upset
It's not difficult to figure out why Nokia might not be too happy with Android's current position in the mobile market. Nokia has bet the farm on the Windows Phone platform and it's currently battling it out with BlackBerryfor more market share in both the U.S. and Europe. You can see below how far the Windows Phone platform has to go in Europe:

Calling all cash flows
When you are trying to buy the market's best stocks, it's worth checking up on your companies' free cash flow once a quarter or so, to see whether it bears any relationship to the net income in the headlines. That's what we do with this series. Today, we're checking in on Kongzhong (Nasdaq: KONG ) , whose recent revenue and earnings are plotted below. - [By Jake L'Ecuyer]
Top losers in the sector included China Unicom (Hong Kong) (NYSE: CHU), off 4.5 percent, and Kongzhong (NASDAQ: KONG), down 4.7 percent.
Top Headline
The Boeing Company (NYSE: BA) reported better-than-expected first-quarter profit. Boeing's quarterly profit declined to $965 million, or $1.28 per share, from a year-ago profit of $1.11 billion, or $1.44 per share. Its adjusted earnings surged to $1.76 per share compared to $1.73 per share. Its revenue climbed to $20.47 billion versus $18.89 billion. However, analysts were projecting earnings of $1.57 per share on revenue of $20.24 billion. For the full year, Boeing expects adjusted earnings of $7.15 to $7.35 per share. - [By Roberto Pedone]
One under-$10 wireless services player that looks poised for a big spike higher is KongZhong (KONG), which is a provider of WVAS and mobile games to mobile phone users and a wireless media company providing news, content, community and mobile advertising services through its wireless Internet sites in the PRC. This stock is off to a hot start in 2013, with shares up sharply by 53%.
If you take a look at the chart for KongZhong, you'll notice that this stock has been downtrending badly for the last two months, with shares plunging lower from its high of $14.92 to its recent low of $7.78 a share. During that downtrend, shares of KONG have been consistently making lower highs and lower lows, which is bearish technical price action. That move has now pushed shares of KONG into oversold territory, since its current relative strength index reading is 30.21. Shares of KONG are now starting to spike higher off its recent low of $7.78 a share and off its 200-day moving average of $7.95 a share. This spike could be signaling that the downside volatility for KONG is over in the short-term and the stock is ready to trend higher.
Traders should now look for long-biased trades in KONG if it manages to break out above some near-term overhead resistance at $8.50 a share with high volume. Look for a sustained move or close above that level with volume that hits near or above its three-month average action of 519,857 shares. If that breakout triggers soon, then KONG will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at $10 to its 50-day moving average at $11.33 a share.
Traders can look to buy KONG off any weakness to anticipate that breakout and simply use a stop that sits right below some key near-term support at $7.78 a share. One can also buy KONG off strength once it takes out $8.50 a share with volume and then simply use a stop that sits a comfortable percentage from your entry point.

March 26, 2014: Markets opened higher on Tuesday but equity prices trailed downward all morning, finally going into the red in the early afternoon. If there was any momentum in today market it couldn overcome a weak IPO from Candy Crush Saga game maker King Digital Entertainment PLC (NYSE: KING) and another day in the doldrums for biotech stocks. In the final minutes of trading the DJIA was down 0.46%, the S&P 500 was down 0.56%, and the Nasdaq Composite was down 1.22%.

The prospects for King Digital Entertainment (NYSE: KING ) , on the other hand, aren't quite as dire. Shares of the company behind the hit app "Candy Crush Saga" soared 8.5% Monday as several analysts chimed in with optimistic price targets for the stock. King will report earnings for the first time as a public company on Wednesday, less than two months after its IPO. Three of the investment banks that initiated upbeat coverage of the stock also helped in underwriting its IPO, so as always, take these official opinions with a grain of salt. While I think King's IPO was priced conservatively, it ain't easy coming up with consistently popular gaming apps, and that's precisely what King will need to do to be a wise long-term investment.
- [By Jack Kramer and Nick Martell] Take a break from your spring-break binging and check out what sent Wall Street to a mostly down week. 1. Stock market winner ...
Armed with a new CEO, lululemon athletica (NASDAQ: LULU ) released its earnings report for the final quarter of 2013, and the results sent the stock up 6.2% on Thursday.
The fourth quarter of the a year is the meat and potatoes for most retailers -- all because of the holiday season. For Lulu, based in our neighbor to the north, sales topped$521 million, which was a solid $4 million above Wall Street's expectations, with net income of $109.7 million. Plus, the results were a fancy 7% rise from the same quarter the year before and higher than the company's own projections released in January.
Keep in mind that investors were just happy to see a sign that Lulu is starting 2014 on a fresh slate for more than just financial reasons. Remember that sheer-pants debacle last spring? That cost the company $60 million in revenue last year. Then its founder had to step down from his CEO role after commenting that not all women's bodies were made for Lulu's products (classy, dude). It's no wonder the theme of the earnings report release was making a more "emotional connection" with consumers this year. #latenewyearsresolutions
2. ... And stock market loser
In case you didn't catch it on your news feed, Facebook (NASDAQ: FB ) dropped a solid $2 billion over the week. The new acquisition: Oculus. Its virtual-glasses hardware straps to your face like Oakley ski goggles that look like they've taken some steroids. Someone's trying to compete with Google Glass.
Just to give you some context, the 'Book spilled $1 billion to control your photo life history when it bought Instagram. And it's lower than the hefty $19 billion Mark Zuckerberg's company spent on WhatsApp when Zuckerberg went to a coffee shop to sit down with the founders and tell them he was about to cut a check.
So wha - [By WWW.DAILYFINANCE.COM]
www.candycrushsaga.com King Digital Entertainment (KING) has tried to set itself apart from casual gaming rival Zynga (ZNGA) in its brief life as a publicly traded company. Unfortunately, it's failing to. The company behind "Candy Crush Saga" posted disappointing quarterly results on Tuesday afternoon, sending the stock reeling on soft guidance and continuing fears that its flagship game has peaked in popularity. Gross bookings clocked in at $611.1 million. That may be 27 percent ahead of the prior year's take, but that's well short of the $641.1 million it scored during the first three months of this year. In fact, that's also lower than the $648 million in gross bookings that it generated when it peaked during the third quarter of last year and the $632 million it nabbed during the fourth quarter of last year. This was always the fear when it came to investing in King Digital. Gamers are fickle, especially when it comes to free or nearly free apps. Zynga investors got burned when they bought into the "FarmVille" and "Words With Friends" publisher's initial public offering in 2011 because gross bookings peaked a year later. King Digital could be even worse: It now seems like its performance peaked the year before it went public. The Empty Piñata There are plenty of problematic metrics in King Digital's second quarter report. Monthly unique users, daily active users and monthly unique payers all declined relative to this year's freshman quarter. However, the most glaring weakness is the fading popularity of the game that put King Digital on the map. King Digital released "Candy Crush Saga" a little over two years ago, and the game proved to be instantly addictive for smartphone owners and folks playing apps on Facebook. However, it's been all downhill, since gross bookings for the game peaked in the third quarter of last year. After ringing up $493 million in gross bookings during the holiday quarter, we've seen King Digital score just $429.5 milli
